Recognized as Ohio Asian American Leader

Judy Wu and Mari Noda posing with Ohio Asian Leaders awardJudy Wu was honored at the inaugural Ohio Asian Leaders & Legends Gala for her service and contributions as coordinator and affiliate of the Asian American Studies program as well as as a faculty member in the Departments of History and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.  Wu was joined among the honorees by Asian American Studies affiliates Mari Noda (Professor and Chair, East Asian Languages and Literatures) and Rebecca Nelson (Multicultural Center).

The inaugural event, held December 1 at the Hyatt Regency, Columbus, was organized with the mission to “inspire, educate and enlighten minds in Ohio to the diversity, success, and achievement of Ohio’s Asian Americans.”  Wu was joined by 30 other honorees, including academic professionals, community activists, and local business people (full list below), who - in the words of the events’ sponsors - “through consistency and longevity, have achieved success in their chosen professions and/or have made many significant contributions within their community.” Read the entire original press release [pdf].
